I recently dragged my nerd boyfriend and a couple of friends to a Vice xmas party with me. He mockingly calls it the hipster bible, but I have always questioned his taste as he listens to acoustic guitar music mostly. Yes the uninformed newbies think so, but Vice has been around for so long.
I was first collecting Vice magazine in my rave days in high school. They always talked about sex, drugs and random social issues in a very obscene and witty way. More then a decade later, same shit same manner.
Originally Vice was an obscure free magazine first created in Canada before it hit internationally all over the globe. Now Vice has spread into different media formats. They make really great political documentaries, the Vice Guide To Travel DVD (i still have it), Vice online site, Vice Records and Dos and Donts book.
They even had an MTV series recently. The Vice Guide To Everything. The droolworthy cute Spike Jonze was in it too.
I'm really tired right now to keep on going on. So all I will say is GO VICE!
Thanks for the free magazines for over a decade. Thanks for the free swag and free beers at the Vice party. I'll always be a fan. My friends and family who have moved me wonder why I keep a large collection of free magazines like I'm some hoarder pack-rat but I will never throw any of my vice stuff out.
A picture from my night at the vice party.
